Intuition and Spiritual Awareness

Being intuitive is part of being human. It is an intrinsic sense that is as real as our five physical senses, if not more so. Intuition does not lie; it is a barometer for truth.

Some people are more aware of their intuition than others and even those who do not 'believe' in such things still use their intuition in their daily lives, blissfully unaware of the power of its guidance.

Each person's experience with intuition is as individual as they are. It may speak to us as a voice, images, sensations, gut feelings or communicate with us in our dreams.

Intuition can be subtle, spontaneous and gentle or it may leap out at us, compelling us to stop the car and pull over or warn us that a loved one has fallen ill or is in danger.

Learning to recognise and develop our intuition is a deeply satisfying and cathartic experience but it can be a bumpy ride as we uncover layers of ourselves that we never knew existed and see the world in a new and exciting light.

Listening to our intuition helps us to become more spiritually aware.

Spiritual awareness is not a religious concept. It requires no worship of gods or deities. It is simply about nurturing a sense of heightened awareness and wisdom that opens our hearts and minds.

We are spiritual beings having a human experience but some of us are more spiritual than others. Perceiving the truth in every situation and remaining calm in a crisis are often qualities of the spiritually aware.

Intuitive development, meditation and doing the things you love enhance spiritual awareness, as does a good self-care routine including moderate exercise, eating healthily and spending time in nature.

Becoming spiritually aware happens slowly over a life-time for some people but for others, a spiritual awakening may suddenly occur if they go through a traumatic or life-changing experience.

It may seem a little daunting at times but there is help at hand from others who are going through a similar thing.

Spiritual teachers should be chosen wisely. Trust your intuition and a select a teacher that encourages you to empower yourself from within and be kind to yourself and others.

My first book, 'Weird Is Wonderful' features great detail about intuitive development and spiritual awareness and how we can enhance these to improve our lives and the world around us.
